Bay Area Mineralogists is an informal association of professional and advanced amateur mineralogists and geology professionals living mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area. Most of our members are, or have been, active field collectors of mineral specimens in California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah and other states. MEETING INFORMATION: BAM meets at 7pm on the 2nd Wednesday of each month EXCEPT February (when many members travel to the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show) and July and August (summer vacation). In addition we hold an annual picnic on a weekend in late August or September. Monthly meetings are held on the campus of the US Geological Survey at 345 Middlefield Road in Menlo Park. The location is most easily approached by US101 to either the Marsh Road or Willow Road exit. Take either Marsh or Willow westward from 101 to Middlefield Road and turn to continue in the same direction you were travelling on 101, i.e., USGS is located on Middlefield between Marsh and Willow. The entry drive to the USGS campus is marked only by two small "Map Sales" signs. We meet in Conference Room C (room 3-237) in Building 3, the Visitor Center at 7:00 PM. Conference Room C is on the second floor across from the auditorium. There is an external stairway on the NE side of the building which opens adjacent to the conference room. The door to this entrance is open on meeting nights. The front door to Bldg 3 is locked at 5pm. |
